Who knew there were 5 seasons a year (some would argue that there is a “Mud Season” each year as well,  but that’s just silly: mud doesn’t fall from the sky, but leaves and trees sure do). It’s it’s hard to believe that leaf season is already here. With this weekend’s “Wienold Fall Festival” rapidly approaching, I’ve been doing lots of yard prep and leaf vacuuming already. I’ll have one last minute vac on Saturday morning so its as clear as possible, but in the meantime, its also been a whirlwind of ground clearing to make more room for the hay rides. So I finally cleared (mostly) the back woods with some help this weekend. I took down a few trees and cleared up what likely amounts to decades worth of dead fall from the back property line and processed it into more mountains of chipping. Many things still remain on the to-do list, but the property is looking pretty good.

It’s amazing how just over the last couple years, I could bag all my leaves into a few paper bags:

…and now, I have the need to mechanize the process:
