I’m all about DIY stuff. Not because I just want to spruce up the house or I follow some trendy home remodeling show on TV, no its because I absolutely can’t stand paying someone for something that I know is not a difficult task. That said… did buying a manual tire machine take it too far?
As it turns out, I can answer that with a resounding “NO”! A simple $50 tool which I needed to bolt to the floor has already paid for itself in spades. I needed to replace tires on the dump trailer which I was quoted nearly 800 bucks to do (for 3 tires!). I found the same quoted tire on Amazon for $117 each, plus the $50 tool and $15 in hardware to bolt it down. The tires take about 10 minutes each to un-mount and mount. Done. No taking equipment to a tire shop and waiting… its just done!
Next up was Talley’s tires. I was quoted about $850 for better quality travel trailer tires plus I’d have to take the trailer to the tire shop and leave it hitched to the truck while they do it while stuck listening to soft rock in the waiting room the whole time. Same tires were $135 each and I was done before Disney.
Boom
