Plumbing… My favorite

Yes, that title is sarcastic. The good thing about this type of plumbing project is that as a new addition, the house is not dependent on its function for daily operation.

Anywho…. Labor Day weekend is typically one that we avoid the crowds. Historically I’ve sailed Bebop in the Annapolis Labor Day Regatta or the Annapolis Race week before that. Some of that racing still happened this past weekend, but with some family health problems at home in the Bebop family combined with the Covid pandemic, its best for all parties to stay home, a choice that while I miss the action dearly, is the right decision for all. So this year we found ourselves with extra time on the 3 day weekend. We did manage a family sail on Backfin on Saturday, then house cleaning on Sunday followed by the initiation of the plumbing project at the “Beach House” or whatever we are trying to call it (Lois’ house).

The boatlift was installed a couple months ago and during that project we installed a water line in the same trench that the power cables went. So it was time to plumb the dock into the house. I spent most of Monday floating in the dinghy under the dock attaching water lines and adding spigots at various locations. I wrapped up the project Wednesday when I finally tied it in to the house plumbing and testing for the first time.

No leaks (knock on wood) but it did take me the minimum requisite 3 trips to the hardware store for parts. Ugh.
