Dogs in the Wienold household are not pets, they are family and there is never a time we dread more than saying goodbye. Our long standing companion of 12 years crossed the bridge last week surrounded by her family, two and 4 legged alike.
Sheba was the ring leader with her outgoing, friendly, goofy and loving personality. She gave us warmth and understanding when things weren’t going our way. She was at our side with a smile upon her face and a huge wagging tail. She was a Doberman thru and thru. If you took your eyes off her for a moment, she would have crawled into the lap of an unsuspecting visitor and she nuzzled your hand from the PC mouse when she wasn’t getting her allotted attention. She was a monster of a dog with a carnival balloon for a personality who could sway the fears of children who soon bear hugged her with delight. There isn’t a corner of our family, our house, or our world that she hadn’t left a paw print on.
At 11 years old, she was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy and given 3-9 months to live, but her strong will and stamina kept her with us for a year and half… longer than the average Doberman of any size… and she was a beastly specimen of the breed, complete with long floppy ears and her beautiful curled tail.
Our hearts will be bruised for a long time after watching her slip away as the tears fell, but we will forever be indebted to what she gave to us.
We love you Sheba…
