Ka-Boom!

Apparently the building I arrive to daily and spend the majority of my working time and is centrally located in the upscale Republic of Eastport, has a bit of a seedy side in the after-hours.

We installed a Ring camera in the garage as a general precaution after two of ABYC’s female employees walked into the garage to find loiterers/smokers on two separate occasions. Those two incidents were benign and the offenders apologized profusely before leaving. Alas, the camera went in anyways so that someone walking into the garage could see in before entering. Only two weeks after its installation, it picked up an oddity… a man walking through the garage, then turning back to the rear (employee exit) stoop. He then messed with some ceiling tiles before leaving. The next morning, John and I decided to investigate the tiles and low and behold, we found a box which i retrieved. That’s where we called the cops and we never opened it.

The next thing we know, we were all asked to leave the building while the bomb squad and fire marshal types investigated. It was cold, so we collectively went to the neighborhood breakfast restaurant for some eats while the cops did their thing.

Upon our return, we found that the cops indeed took the box seriously and decided to blow it up on the spot leaving some damage to the surrounding alcove and debris littering the garage. Apparently, the box contained a men’s hair trimmer. Uhhh… did we just blow up somebody’s x-mas gift?

UPDATE: As it turns out, some detectives decided to come by and take a close look into the garage ceiling. They found a stash of drugs and a gun… hmmm. I like to think that maybe we just helped solve some long standing cold case, how cool would that be? In the meantime, we still need to fix this nasty alcove.
