Fall Fest 2019

The RSVPs flooded in over the last two months and we realized that this year’s Fall festival was going to be the largest yet by a sizable margin. The dining room table was mounded with munchies, treats and craft supplies. The breezeway was stacked with yard games, decorations and beverages. We were ready for anything… except of course for the 2 inches of rain that fell Sunday morning.

We started sending notices that we were watching the weather, but we didn’t exercise the rain date (the following Sunday) until the morning of the party. Ok, no big deal, we lost a few RSVPs but gained a few that couldn’t make it the weekend before. Then mother nature played her cards and by Wednesday, we were looking at a pretty similar forecast, and this one was more convinced of what was to come. Wednesday we had to make yet another change or cancel all together, so we bumped it up to Saturday instead knowing that it was akin to scheduling a 10 year olds’ flag football game during the Super Bowl.

We obviously had a little less time for setup but wow, it was a great success and everyone had a great time. The kids played yard games, zip lined, bounced in the bounce house, and had crafts to decorate. We broke out the photo booth, ran hay rides around the property and of course hosted back yard trick or treating. We certainly had far fewer attendees, but still managed to have 15ish kids to explore the space. We’re already looking forward to next year.
