Mr. Fix-it

Being the Mr. Fix-it in our household means sometimes I’m saddled with stuff a little outside my wheelhouse. I’m fine with car related repairs, most anything attached to the house and certainly boat related. But electronics… ugh. Yeah, ok. I guess I did initially go to school in an electronics field and yeah, I did actually work for an electronics manufacturer for nearly five years. What’s the worst that could happen? Oh yeah, I could break it worse than it is already.

Somehow one of the EPG Surface Pros was dropped and the screen cracked. Repair quotes started at $350 and went up quickly. Parts were only a little over a hundred bucks so why not?

The process was a total PITA. The screen is held on by the strongest tape you could ever image which resulted in me essentially breaking the screen all the way around. With the help of a heat gun, some electronics tools bought from Amazon and a few YouTube videos, I had it repaired and operational once again.  I would NOT recommend to anyone to do try that at home.
