I have a great respect for our servicemen and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice. As with most Americans, Memorial Day weekend is the official kick off to summer and thus celebrated accordingly.
Saturday: Sailed on Backfin with John and Lois, Arianne and Rochelle (Kris’ friends) and niece Vivian. It was the first day on the boat this season and we’re still getting the kinks worked out. The breeze was lite which made keeping the boat up to speed challenging, but the temps were perfect so we weren’t bobbing around in the sun like we have on other trips in late May.
Sunday: Spent some time puttering in the house before Kris left for the afternoon for a job. In her absence, Ryder and I attempted to run some errands, he had other plans.
Monday: Back to the boat for a family sail with John, Lois, Fritz, Camille and the kids. Breeze filled in a little since Saturday, but it was still pretty light. We went a little too far south in the bay and were carried by a strong ebb, so it took us a little while to get back and even had to elicit some help from the faithful Yanmar. The weather could not have been better: low 70s and brilliant blue skies. We were home by dusk and I wished I had picked up the office projector for an outdoor movie night on the back patio.
