Denver

Things always circle back around. Last week I traveled with other ABYC staff to Denver for an intensive strategic planning meeting with our Marine League of Schools. I promise, it was not my idea to choose that spot, although I certainly didn’t talk them out of it. Originally when the idea came to fruition, Kris and I talked about making it a long weekend and she and Ryder accompanying me there to get back to our roots. But as the plans ironed out it wasn’t going to fit into out schedule or budget. We’ve just had too much going on all at once.

I made the most of my time there however, each of the two nights visiting friends locally. I was slightly constrained by the fact I had no car, but Uber took very good care of me on that. I was also on east coast time, so while I struggled in the evenings with friends, my eyes sprang to life at 3am local time so I explored by foot many of my old haunts in Denver before the city woke up. It was a complete twilight zone experience returning to Denver after such a long absence, which at one time I knew very well.  Everything was the same, yet somehow completely different.
