My first travel regatta started early on Thursday morning at the height of Baltimore rush hour. In hind sight I learned that these two days
were the first vacation days of the year for me… at least used for something other than working for EDPi, working on the house, or working on the baby. I can’t complain however since kris has not yet chalked up her first days and I will not let this liberty go unappreciated. So Thursday morning I headed up to BWI to meet Barry and Brad so I could leave the Focus in the long term lot. My usual spot in Long Term A was not an option as everything from the trees to the tracks was torn up for paving and the new traffic pattern resembled clown cars under the big tent.
Traffic being what it is, Brad and Barry arrived a bit later than expected (fb right?). We tossed all of my gear and the last few items that I had retrieved from Bebop the night before into the back of his Pilot and headed North along 95 to Newark to pick up Carole. After a quick stop at the Maryland House for personnel refueling, I became the DJ of the trip (scary, I know).
You have to drive from here, Brad said as we hugged Carole at the arrivals curb in Jersey. Uh ok…. so with one ear in the thralls of a real estate negotiation and an eye on navigating the confusing streets of New York City, Brad sucessfully led us to our destination in Westport Connecticut. Later I learned his comfort with the roads derived from his growing up only a mile from our hosting yacht club.
