Thanksgiving Camping

It seemed like an eternity since the last time we were camping in late August. We originally had two other weekend trips scheduled during that time, but life got in the way as it does sometimes. By the time Thanksgiving week rolled around we were ready for some R&R.

We hadn’t been to Cape Henlopen State Park since Thanksgiving week 2020 so we were happy to be back. We were scheduled to leave Friday before Thanksgiving but were so rushed (me with work and Ryder getting out of school) that we postponed our departure until Saturday morning which as it turned out was perfect. It allowed us to get every last detail planned and packed into Talley and then leave at a civilized hour for a casual ride across Delaware. The campground was pretty full when we arrived but by mid-day Sunday we had the place to ourselves. We rode bikes and reacquainted ourselves with the area including an ice cream run into Lewes.

I’d say our only snag along the way was that a cold front was moving through the area which brought some low temperatures and wind (with a nasty wind chill). As a result, we didn’t get quite as much outside time as we would have loved, but we took advantage of every moment we could.

We high tailed it home on Wednesday morning because it would be a big day for our Mite Hockey player.
