Shake Down

Naturally after our new acquisition, we couldn’t wait to get this thing on the road. There are several bigger trips planned for later in the summer, but we had learned from our Wildwood that we wanted to get some of the kinks out before heading to New York which was only a few more weeks away. The trouble has been our schedule has us regularly in six places at once and the few free weekends had no availabilities at campgrounds.

Thankfully the Maryland booking site has a cancellation notification feature that paid off. On Tuesday before our free weekend I got notified that Patapsco State park about 45 minutes from us had a cancellation that we could fit into. Kris had a daytime job on Friday, so it was up to me to pack the boys and ready the rig and Kris would drive separately after her job. The funny thing is that after over two years and 30 some-odd separate campgrounds that we’ve stayed in, this was our first time staying in Maryland… our home state.

The weekend went great but I chalk it up to being more of a work trip than opportunity for adventure. Kris tore into the kitchen and figured out storage while I went through the systems and reinstalled the improvements that I had scavenged from Talley before we traded her in (like the LevelMatePro) and re-organized the pass through storage to my liking. We also hung pictures and key hooks, figured out where necessities would live, made a couple shopping excursions for organizational remedies and figured out TV operation and tied in our entertainment widgets. Soon enough it started feeling like ours.

We may still have a long way to go to get it as dialed as Talley was, but we feel confident now in getting Grand Talley on the road for our next adventure.

Oh yea… I almost forgot, It was my/Ryder’s Birthday too. Ha!

Somehow this reminds me of the opening scene in Spaceballs
