The first week of the year also brought the first snow of the year and we actually had a fair bit pile up much to our surprise… and you know how much we love snow. It actually was enough to warrant plowing the driveway and the road and it stuck around for the better part of a week.
The event did make us question whether Ethan is actually our born blood child since he simply hates the stuff. Needless to say he didn’t spend much time out there. Mom and dad were still here from their first holiday trip to visit in 2 years and naturally they were equally concerned whether all the flights for the next 6 months would be canceled as a result of the snow and additionally how we would ever dig ourselves out of the “blizzard”.
Lastly, the excitement of the snow wore off when the trees and branches started falling around us. A big pine broke mid way up in the back yard and came up a few yards from hitting the house. Not really any damage as a result, but the climbing dome from last year looks like a deranged science project gone wrong under the weight of a 1 ton limb. Chainsaw work forthcoming…
