Continued from Pocahontas
We wrapped up our week by retracing some of the steps between Williamsburg to Pocahontas and heading beyond through Norfolk, through the Chesapeake Bridge/Tunnel to the idyllic shores of the southern tip of the Virginia Eastern Shore. Virginia Landing may have its faults (such as the lack of full hook ups, pool in disrepair, electrical issues) but it made up for it in other regards. The place was only at about 10% capacity so there was hardly anyone around, our sites were big and we were nested into the quiet trees of lowland Chesapeake.
We met up with Ari and Lucas who have accompanied us on a couple other trips. They’re starting to get the hang of their rig and had already arrived when we got there. I threaded Talley between a couple tall pines so that we could have an adjacent site to theirs but the space that afforded us was massive. I set up the ladder toss game and we had a roaring fire each night to keep us warm and toast our marshmallows.
Easter came on our last day there and we came prepared with 100ish plastic eggs marked for their recipients that each of us had to hunt down (adults included… ours had slight more mature contents). The boys loved hunting for their eggs and this was officially Ethan’s first egg hunt which he seemed to enjoy.
As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. We headed back home on Monday making one stop in Salisbury, MD where surprisingly they had openings for vaccines. So Ari and I waited for our first round shots before heading the rest of the way home. Dates are already on the calendar for early summer including a couple more week long trips this year. We can’t wait.
