Over the long weekend we made our way a couple hours north through the flowing rural fields of Amish country to Hershey RV and Camping Resort. As part of our Thousand Trails membership that we received with the purchase of Talley, we can stay at these resorts for no nightly fee. This was our second time to Hershey and hadn’t planned on returning until next year sometime, however our plans to go to Lake Gaston in NC were interrupted by a small weather event which would have forced us to sit inside and watch TV all day anyways… so we ventured a little north to avoid as much of the storm as possible.
Truth be told, our first experience there wasn’t great but upon our second trip, we had a lot of sites to choose from and were able to better capitalize on area attractions than we did on the first visit. We stayed in C-15 which had lots of space around us and was a little more removed from the main road so we weren’t listening to traffic all day.
I’ve noticed that of the places we’ve been so far and want to go to in the future, there are a lot of places that have ponds or lakes which would be perfect for sailing the AVS boat as well as Ryder’s boat (which still needs some TLC). So we managed to bring that along and sail her around. Additionally we took a short trip into Hershey to go to the Hershey Chocolate World which as it turns out is mostly a giant gift shop. Nonetheless, Ryder loved exploring the activities they had for the visitors.
Our timing was great over Columbus Day weekend with Autumn colors beginning to splash the country side. With cool temps throughout the day and night, the windows were open and the campfire crackled all afternoon melting a lot of marshmallows along the way. The rain finally settled in from the remnants of Hurricane Delta on Sunday evening so we cleared up camp overnight and drove home in the drizzle Monday morning.
