After living in the woods for over 3 years now, I’ve been a little surprised that I had not yet encountered reptiles of the slithering kind. I don’t hate snakes.. they certainly have a part in our world, but I certainly don’t like being surprised by them (like the time one was hanging out in a bush over my head while I was trying to cut the bush down at Ramblewood). I thought this guy was a stick in the driveway as I was returning the tractor to the garage and I followed it across the yard to make sure he wasn’t headed for our front door. He is known as a Eastern Ratsnake and is very common and thankfully harmless (unless you’re a rodent).
