F-I-V-E-!

I think we said this at 1, 2 and every birthday so far, but 5 sounds like an exceptionally big number for a kid that was born only weeks ago.. wasn’t it only weeks ago?

We changed things up a bit this year. Since we had the Easter Egg Hunt party only a month ago, we decided to go offsite for Ryder’s birthday party and hold it at his martial arts studio. We were still given a lot of flexibility in how the party ran, activities, theme (NINJA… of course!) etc, but we wouldn’t have the added stress of everyone coming to our house which induces its own set of challenges.

Kris went all out with theme and had great treats, games, giveaways and cupcakes all catered to the theme. Ryder’s regular coach ran the kids through a couple hours of activities to the point where the kids were spent by the end of it all. It was a great success!

When his/our birthday finally came around, it was a bit more like-key. Yes there was the pile-o-presents, the main gift was a backyard trampoline (more about that later). Then in keeping with the ninja theme, we went to a local hibachi restaurant where big flames, sword play and bandanas were encouraged.

I got a pair of shoes.
