Two Wheels

… is all you need to put a smile on your face. Ryder has been working on his balance bike all summer and fall with great progress in the last couple months. The next logical progression was a new bike for Christmas.

Kris made fun of me for pulling out all the stops on assembling the bike a few days before, but how can I not? Ry’s first bike and I, a former bike mechanic. So the wheels were trued on a stand, hubs were adjusted and everything dialed in, just like I used to so many times before.

Christmas came and the boy was electric! So many things to explore, open and experience. But the first thing he went for was his shiny new bike… a big boy bike with no training wheels (we’d try it at least and then decide to put them on).

Strep throat nailed me later that day and while I survived the day and Christmas dinner, I was in no condition to help moose until Friday. So Kris and I took him out in the 20 degree brisk afternoon to help him try it out, and it was no time before he was peddling on his own! He’ll still need some work to be independent, but wow, how quickly that came.
