Westward Bound

We didn’t know that the Northrop Grumman photo job would happen this year but with just a couple weeks to plan, we received the contract to travel out to California for a job in Marina Del Ray. As we usually do, we extended our trip in order to visit family which is always worth the extra headache of carting around our photography gear. We arrived on Wednesday and stayed on the central coast until Sunday before traveling south for the Monday job, then home Tuesday (back at the office Wednesday).

Most of the time Ryder is a good traveler, although this trip he was more anxious throughout the 6 hour flights coming and going. His rather large stature (for a 3 year old) also enables him now to freely kick the seats in front of him and other annoying behaviors in order to manipulatively get his way. We know most of the tricks of the traveling with kids trade by now, but that doesn’t stop him from keeping our anxiety a little higher than we would normally desire for the long flight.

Nikki and Jackie both had babies in December last year, so this was our first meeting and there was a lot of baby holding. They are both adorable with bright personalities which meshed well with Ryder. I can’t wait for them to get just a little older so he’ll have better interactions. As usual, we spent some much needed time at the beach and trying to unwind a bit.

Mom then accompanied us to Marina Del Ray to watch Ryder during Monday’s job which worked out well… she was able to spend a little more time with him and we didn’t need to stress over his care during the event. We all then were able to go to the airport together to fly out on our respective flights home.
