The morning after…

…a long holiday weekend always feels surreal. Where did the time go? Did I maximize my time with friends, family, projects? 2 years ago I raised the walls and roof of an entire building in these 4 days. This year I barely got the lawn mowed. K worked 3 of the 4 days. We squeezed in a round of golf with her folks on a steamy afternoon on Kris’ Birthday with Ry in tow. He loved riding around with us on the first 9 holes at which point grandma took him to the pool to cool off.

I had Ryder by myself with the extended fam on the 4th on the family boat at anchor just off the Annapolis shore. It was hot, then it rained so we all went below where it got even hotter and steamier in the un-ventilated and confined space only to have the fireworks canceled due to weather (ugh). Ry was great until the last hour or so… past his bedtime and well past his patience level. We rolled into the drive way a little before 10:30, the dogs beyond anxious to be let outside after such a long confinement, Ryder’s eyes shut before his head hit his pillow.
