Nearly 9 months after I removed the plumbing for the upstairs master bathroom and reducing our house to only one bathroom, last night I finally installed the toilet flange in the new bathroom. As usual, it turned into more of a project than it ever needed to be since I chose to plumb it with 3″ pipe instead of 4″. Had I used 4″, I could have hacked the rough in pipe flush to the tile and the flange would fit on this inside diameter… but no, I had to clear out space around the outside diameter of the pipe (tile and concrete), modify the pipe and the flange and then glue the flange to the pipe. The final challenge and the singular reason I hate tile was to screw down the flange which required holes in the tile. 4 holes took nearly an hour using all the appropriate bits… ugh. Once through the tile, the concrete was butter and the flange was screwed down with specialty screws.
Tonight the toilet will flush!
