Each year for the last 4 ABYC has participated in a fuel testing program that runs alternative fuels through existing engines. It has afforded us an excuse to be out on the water as a certain number of engine hours are to be accumulated throughout the season. At the beginning of the season, we rig the boats with engines tuned at the factory that have had “baseline” testing done on them and then we remove the engines in the fall to be shipped back and tested once more.
The weather has been cooperative this week so Jeff Wassil from Evinrude came down with John McKnight from NMMA to help in de-rigging them. With great efficiency, we had them stripped and crated by the time pizza was delivered. Its a little bitter sweet since we may not see the Angler again after this season, but next year will be more testing and at the rate time passes, it will be here before we know it.
