Since mom and dad are out on the west coast, its a serious commitment to come out for a visit. But after a two car rides, a train, a low geo centric orbit, a magic carpet, a decompression chamber and two adult beverages, I picked them up at BWI last week after my ISO meetings. They packed lightly but brought the hottest weather of the year, 90+ degrees and humid.
Within a half hour a grand baby lay in their arms. Mom took him first and was bursting with pride and only after she couldn’t keep from going to bathroom any longer did she let dad hold Ryder. This would be the first of a lot of baby holding over the next couple weeks.
Since our house is still in the remodeling stage, they stayed in a nearby hotel until Saturday morning when they headed down to Raleigh to visit Mike, Jennifer and the kids for a few days. Upon their return, the guest room was now ready and they have been staying with us since Wednesday. Its great having them around and taking part in the first few weeks of Ryder’s life. If only we were a little closer that it wouldn’t take an act of congress to get together for a visit.
